We didn’t quite make it!
This is a disappointment to us, but also to those hoping to buy a watch from us. Firstly thanks for all the support and pledges, and we are sorry we cannot fulfil them because of the missed target.
We designed unique watches that we found people either understood immediately, or missed the point. We also specified them to a standard which we would be happy to own, way in excess of comparable products. Both of these things may have hurt the campaign in the end. We are unsure of why it was not a success. It could be the pricing, relatively high target, design or the promotion. Let us know what you think could have been improved upon.
There are a lot of average products on Kickstarter. Almost all wooden watches, and the majority of other watches can be found from factories directly off-the-shelf. A logo is added, and maybe a box but thats about it, with not much thought beyond the basics. They often set the expectation that you can buy a decent wooden watch for £50-100, which we don’t think is possible, so our campaign was always a big challenge. In reality our retail price should have been in the £250 to £500 region.
What next ?
We could try re-sourcing the watch at a lower specification at a lower price, if possible. We could change the design if we have missed something. Or we could start a new campaign on another watch project. We have a lot of other ideas. Let us know your opinions, as we genuinely would like to hear.
